About this event
McClennan Community Orchestra presents
Peter Olsen, Conductor
Sharon Bjørndal Lavery, Pianist
The concert will include pieces by African-American composers to coincide with the celebration of Juneteenth.
The concert will also pay homage to Bosque County’s unique Norwegian heritage, performing music by Norwegian composer Agathe Backer Grondahl (Andante quasi Allegretto, 1898) and Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite Number One.
The salute to African-American composers will include Florence Price’s Piano Concerto in One Movement. Price was the first female African-American composer to achieve national recognition and to have a symphony performed by a major orchestra.
A wine and cheese social will be held before the concert in the BAC Atrium starting at 6:30 PM. The concert starts at 7:30 PM.
