Online Norwegian Class

A goal of the Norwegian Society of Texas is to ‘Increase the value of members.’ One key strategy for this goal is to make Norwegian language classes available to all members. In the fall of 2020, we successfully tested the concept of online classes. We are pleased to announce a new beginning class, which starts Saturday, January 9th. The class will cover the first six chapters of Sett i gang 1.

The instructor for the class is Sally Skow. Sally has taught Norwegian classes at the Wooden Spoon in Plano, Texas, her home and online. Sally studied the language at the University of Minnesota and has a degree in archaeology from a Norwegian university.

Text Book:

Sett i gang 1 by Kari Lie Dorer & Nancy Aarsvold

The book sells for approximately $55-$59 on Amazon, but is available for less for Kindle.

Note: Make sure to purchase Volume 1

Sett i gang 1

Additional Information from our Instructor: It is a beginner’s course, but will also be suitable for those who have basic knowledge of Norwegian but want a refresher course. The textbook allows for a conversational style of learning that includes background information on Norwegian culture.

I prioritize pronunciation so everyone gets off to a good start. We will stress basic conversational Norwegian and the vocabulary necessary for travel, communicating with Norwegian-speaking relatives, as well as terms needed for Norwegian family research.
